Delve into the dark story of Ashley and help her unravel this blood-chilling adventure. Out of the blue, Ashley receives a strange postcard from her grandmother, who lives in Maine on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.
Ashley tries to contact her, but the phone went unanswered, which was completely out of character for her grandma.
The game brings you back to your childhood home, which now has turned into an eerie old mansion, in search of your missing grandmother.
General Tips. The story now winds up — grandma tells about the curse of the werewolf that has been haunting her for years. Seems to have been forgotten, somehow!
First a warning! She was barely able to drag herself back home. Near a town called Ludwigslust there were lush forests that were so well known for having an abundance of game that the royal dukes would come from near and far to hold great hunts.
During these excursions they usually came across a wolf who, even though he was well within shooting distance, no one was ever able to kill or wound.
Sometimes the cheeky wolf would even take some of their game as its trophy. One time a hussar from Ludwigslust traveled into the Feeg home. As he entered the house, a big group of children ran outside of the house screaming.
When he asked them what was wrong, they told him that no one else was in the home except for the young Feeg boy; and he chose this time to transform into a werewolf.
The children were running away from the wolf who was trying to bite them. The boy even showed the man.
The man told a local forester, who was frequently on the hunt, and the man decided he would get the wolf on their next hunt. The wolf showed himself and the forester shot him with a silver bullet.
The wolf was wounded and ran towards the village and into the Feeg home. Injured, the grandmother had forgotten to take off the strap and her secret was known.
People believing in witches happened in parallel to those believing in werewolves, most notably during the late Middle Ages.
Just like witchcraft trials, there were werewolf trials, which began in an area now known as Switzerland in the early 15 th Century, and spreading in popularity and frequency throughout Europe before ending sometime in the 18 th Century.
Werewolf trials were far less common than witchcraft ones with some charges involving transformation into a wolf, or being a charmer or rider of the majestic creatures.
At one time, the werewolf was not always thought of as evil. In the Baltic an year-old confessed to being a werewolf, who would go to hell three times each year to fight against the witches and wizards of Satan, in order to provide a good harvest for the people.
The court tried to make the man confess he had made a pact with the devil, but he would not. Some people believe that modern man is suppressing important natural urges and primal desires, which is why the myth of being able to transform into a creature like a werewolf, who is at the mercy of such urges, can seem empowering and liberating.
The Church of Satan even has visualizations and exercises available online for those who wish to transform and practice lycanthropy to increase their power and prowess.
The moon is described as a powerful focal point during transformation, but not considered necessary for metamorphosis. Rated 5 out of 5 by 8dognight from Stands Up Well in Curse of the Werewolves, hidden object scenes notwithstanding, plays more like an adventure game than many more recent HOPA offerings.
The map functions as a hint system, and the game is structured cleverly enough that I had to use the map numerous times.
If you liked Haunted Hotel: Charles Dexter Ward, you will like Curse of the Werewolves although the puzzles are much easier.
If you adore Hidden object screens, which I do not, the downside is that while plentiful, these screens are repeated, and some objects are quite small.
I was willing to put up with that because the game is otherwise an SE gem. I was disappointed to find no other HOPAs from Nordcurrent.
Date published: Rated 5 out of 5 by mbgamer21 from Don't play based on the bad reviews! I really have no idea how this could've been rated so poorly.
I loved this game! It's actually one of the first hidden object mystery games that made freak out a little after turning it off at 3 AM to go to sleep.
The sound effects and music are spot on with the creepy factor. The music kinda reminded me of the music played in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
I also had no trouble being able to see in hidden object games. Those that say this game is boring or they couldn't figure out what to do next shouldn't be playing this type of game to begin with in my opinion.
These games are meant for thinking and using your brain and that's what makes them so fun. I didn't have trouble to the point of being just totally stuck.
Loved this game! Play it for yourself without focusing on the bad reviews. Rated 5 out of 5 by Polisuco from Oh boy.
